JandMore Reddit Teacher Exchange 2015

Looking for the sign-up page? You can sign up as a teacher (or giver) here.

Teachers have one of the most important jobs in the world. They educate, teach and raise the future generation. But they don’t always get the resources which they need to do their job properly. According to a study, teachers annually have to spend over $100 on classroom supplies. That’s why Reddit organizes the “Reddit Teacher Exchange” where a “donator” can send a care package to one of the teachers that sign up.

We had the pleasure to participate near the end of August 2014, and with a little more than a hundred dollars we were able to sent a year worth of supplies such as pencils and notebooks (and other goodies) to one of the teachers. The response we got was so heart warming that we immediately knew we’ll be participating in 2015 again.

But in 2015, we want to make a bigger effort, so we will be trying to raise money to create an even bigger budget – and you can help. In 2014 and 2015 we’ll launch several initiatives, where you can donate to our Teacher Exchange budget. We’re going to make sure that every donation will be more than worth it, by making the initiatives as awesome as possible. So, if you’ve got a few dollars to spare, pay attention to this blog. You might see an initiative you like!

Our big goal for 2015 will be to raise $250 which should allow us to help at least two teachers (or we’ll make one teacher very happy). With your help, we’re sure we can make this happen.

  1. As a teacher, I have to say that this is wonderfully awesome!!! Thank you for doing this! Teachers are always in need of supplies and the reddit exchange has been a huge help!

    1. Hey Megan,

Thanks! We’re going to try and do some kind of fundraiser in the next two months, so we can help as many teachers as possible.

Will you be participating as well, this year? On the receiving end?

  2. I was luck enough to be non the receiving end of this program last year. Please know that we all really appreciate the love and support!

    1. Hello Laura, thank *you* for doing the job you’re doing.

Unfortunately, the fund raiser is cancelled due to a lack of interest, but I’ll be participating myself and hope to help a teacher out again this year. I’m looking forward to it!

Thank you for your commitment to teachers. I personally spend over $1000 each year on new books, supplies, interactive lessons and room decorations (like carpets and chairs). Having the community to help is so appreciative and for many teachers it is what helps them continue to reach children. Just know your programs and support is invaluable!!

    1. Hello Jennifer,

We appreciate all the work you and your fellow teachers are doing, which is why we love helping. We can’t really do much (there wasn’t a lot of enthusiasm this year) but we’ll be doing our best to support at least one teacher and buy them some stuff. 🙂
