Welcome, From App To Zip and From App To Zero

I’ve tried to refine the formula of PowerUserGuide a lot in the past few years. None of those attempts really lead to something other than cosplaying as a content creator. One of those attempts was creating the brands From App To Zip and its Cyber Security little sister, From Arp To Zero. One was supposed to replace this very blog. The other was supposed to be a specialized, more niche version of this blog.

Neither projects really went anywhere, because I ran into the hard limits of my (which I now know is an) AuDHD brain. When the time to renew both came up I already knew they wouldn’t really be going anywhere. Lately I’ve struggled to post to this blog monthly, so to keep pretending that I could tack on additional blogs (on top of other ones that still exist) would be an insult to my intelligence.

However, the premise of both From App to Zip and From Arp To Zero is still something I believe(d) in. From App To Zip’s goal was to be a combination of basic tutorials and a “dictionary” of technologies for beginning users. From Arp To Zero was supposed to be home to content that teaches people the fundamentals of Cyber Security.

They’re both strong concepts, but neither has justified having an own website, YouTube channel and social media channels. But I didn’t want to dismiss the ideas either. That’s why I renegotiated the deals I had with my brain, and chose to fold both brands into the existing PowerUserGuide structure.

Here’s a summary of what’s changing with this move:

  • We’ve changed the category structure of PowerUserGuide to the one of From App To Zip. While empty, the category structure was far stronger than the hot mess we were using here.
  • From App To Zip is now a Series on here, which is a collection of posts that you can read through the category page and (once our registrar has done its job) directly through an app2.zip forwarder
  • From ARP To Zero is now a Series on here, a collection of posts on Cyber Security for technically oriented people and beginners alike. It’s also accessible directly through an arp20.com forwarder
  • On our YouTube channel, we’ve created a playlist for both From App To Zip and From Arp To Zero. Both playlists will be home to videos that match the content that’ll appear on this blog.
  • We’ve cancelled the domain name(s) and we’ll save another hundred euros, so maybe we can buy some nice tools for this blog!
  • We haven’t moved over the content. There wasn’t much to salvage to be honest
  • We’ve deleted the YouTube channels and the socials for both “brands”

All in all, not a whole lot will change for any visitor for this blog. Most of the “changes” are in the mental department where I won’t have to cosplay as the owner of two extra blogs and YouTube channels who hasn’t written anything in many moons.

See you next time, and don’t let AI delete your F:/ drive.

Steven out.
