Checking in a Joomla article

Under the motto “You never know who might need this”, we’ve written down the instructions on how to check in a Joomla article. It’s the bane of the existence of some administrators – super users happily ignore petty things such as “other users not checking in.” It’s surprisingly hard to “check out” an article in Joomla, as it’d require someone to save an article without closing it using “Save & Close” or “Close”. But when it happens, and an article is “checked in”, you’ll get the nice error below.

Joomla displays a check-in error when an article was saved, but not "exited" properly.

Click the check-in button to check in the article. Like magic!

The most obvious method, perhaps, is using the “check-“in button. Select the article(s) you want to check-in and click the “check-in” button in the tool bar. Pretty easy, right?

Clicking the “lock”

When an article is checked in, a lock will appear next to the title, indicating who checked out the article and when. You can easily check-in the article, simply by clicking the lock. 2014-10-09_12-46-49   We hope this short tutorial is useful to someone out there. Best of luck with your editing, and don’t forget to save!
